It is part of our company tradition that everyone
takes pride in their work.
Sometimes the desire to do the job properly can
work against us. Less painstaking
organizations may not query ambiguous specifications or may not anticipate
inherent problems. They may appear to be a better deal, until, that is, problems arise.
In such circumstances the old adage, ‘you get what you pay for’, can
prove very true. At Oldershaw
Brothers we like to think that you, ‘get more for what you pay’.
Constructive feedback is welcomed from our
clients to ensure that continued good quality represents an area in which we
never grow complacent.
The watchwords at Oldershaw Brothers are Good Value not cheap work.
Specifications
& Quotations...
Oldershaw Brothers do their best to ensure every quotation
is accompanied by an itemized description including any assumptions made against
the proffered specification.
You can clearly see what our price covers, allowing you to
plan a realistic budget for your project. We
are always happy to discuss alternative specifications or explore ways in which
your budget might be safely reduced.
But we don’t cut corners, either in our estimating
process or in our building work.
Company
History
Fred Oldershaw (senior), a Master Carpenter and
Great Grandfather of the present Company Directors, began his own building
company during the late 1890’s. He
was later joined by two of his sons, Fred (junior) and George, having served
their apprenticeships with the builder Orson Wright.
Wright built the Grand Hotel in Leicester and was responsible for the
development of South Wigston during the late 19th / early 20th
Centuries.
After the First World War, Fred (junior) and
George took a greater lead in the running of the company and it wasn’t long
before the Oldershaw Brothers became well established within Wigston and the surrounding locality. The inter-war
years were a very busy time, with the company building many new homes in South
Wigston, Glen Parva and Blaby, as well as continuing to serve the neighbouring
community with repairs and alterations to local factories, schools and existing
houses.
Henry and Frederick, sons of Fred (junior),
continued the family tradition when they joined the company just before the
Second World War. Henry, the Joiner
and Carpenter, won first prize for carpentry in 1937 and 1938 from the ‘City
of Guilds of London Institute - Department of Technology’.
The company’s reputation for producing high quality building work in a
professional and efficient manner was, therefore, secure in the hands of the
next generation of Oldershaw brothers. In
1956 the family run business became a limited company.
Today, the tradition continues under the management of Noel and Andrew Oldershaw, two of Henry’s sons, who maintain a close and personal relationship with their clients throughout all building projects. With the help of a small but dedicated team of Joiners, Carpenters, Bricklayers and Specialist Sub-Contractors, the Oldershaw brothers are able to carry out building work around Leicestershire from the smallest repair to larger contracts valued at approximately £60,000.00.
